• Actual phone call today:
Me: PC Professionals, may I help you?

Scammer: Yes, this is your Windows technician. We have noticed on our server that your computer is posing a security threat. We need to log in to your computer to fix it.

    M: Which one?

    S: The one running Windows.

M: I have eight of them. You will need to be more specific.

S: Just go to the one closest to you. I can log into it from here and verify if it is the broken one.

M: Did you not hear me when I answered the phone? This is a computer repair shop.

S: You cannot repair this. Only qualified Windows technician can fix this problem.

M: Do you really think I’m stupid enough to fall for your scam?

    S: OK, bye bye.

Yes, folks, they are still out there and trying this. I had three more in the month of May who fell for this. I love getting paid on these, but please, realize that Microsoft is NOT going to call you with a problem, and neither is Apple. The same goes with the pop up notices telling you that you need to call Microsoft or Apple. They are a scam. Please be careful.
